research"Cityproject" is a series of walks and lectures whose aim is to attract attention to the post-war architecture and unban-planning transformations of Lodz devised especially for the holiday period. The investments of the second half of the 20th century organise the life of the city even today, though they seem to take the least space in the minds of Lodz inhabitants.
This may be so due to the fact that the majority of Lodz inhabitants remember their construction and thus think that they are a natural part of the cityscape. Presently we can observe a growing interest in the post-war achitecture and its inclusion into our national heritage. During „Cityproject", the lecturers of the Technical University of Lodz: Jan Salm and Mirosław Wiśniewski will talk about the valuable buildings erected in Lodz of the day, as well as present those constructions that can be considered a mistake from today's point of view. They will guide tours around both university campuses built after the war from scratch, which enabled the architects to create bold visions in the area of architecture and urban planning. The citycentre, in turn, with its dense urban tissue, witnessed and fell victim to modernist architectural visions, such as the project of New Citycentre from the 1960s.
The walks will demonstrate how to walk the city streets with more awareness.
The project has been organised with the support of National centre for Culture as a part of the "Metapolis" series.
