Weekly workshops for children at ms2 are back, starting in September. We have planned the following events: Collection in Fashion, Equatorial Journeys, How is It Done?, Crumpled-Woven, Mu-zoo-um as well as Planning the Planet and Raiders of the Lost Stories, Dreamland or Who Dreamt What and a two-part Portrait Painting Firm.
Perhaps you would like to have an unforgettable birthday at ms2 having fun with your guests at a workshop of your choice? Or print out a coloring book?

Department of Education of the Museum of Art in Lodz invites primary school pupils to take part in a competition „Ancient Cultures – the Cradle of United Europe” ("Kultury starożytne - kolebką zjednoczonej Europy"), special lectures on the history of art of Antiquity for primary school pupils. The teachers can also get special offers.
We also invite you to participate in the National Art History Contest for secondary school students (Art Contest, art. Education section). The Museum holds consultation meetings for students and teachers as well as lectures on art history in three series: ABC of Art History, XYZ of Art History and ĄĘ of Art History on Wednesdays and Saturdays at ms2, 19 Ogrodowa Street.

We invite grown-ups to participate in creative workshops inspired by the methods practiced by Maria Parczewska and Janusz Byszewski. The first one of them is „Marcel’s Gang”, conducted by Agnieszka Wojciechowska-Sej.
Thursday walks are also back at ms2, they start at 5.17 p.m. It is indeed impossible to explore the 20th and 21st century Art Collection at ms2 even during one day: just one minute spent in front of one of half a thousand exhibits means an 8-hour tour. Which ones should you choose? Each trail is a suggestion of a walk around the exhibition following a different trait. Each time the guests will only interpret a few works, but they will do it in a brave and remarkable way. The four topoi of the ms2 exhibition („body, trauma, prosthesis”, „construction, utopia, politicization”, „eye, image, reality”, „object, fetish, phantasm”) are in fact four radica interpretations. On a poster: "Prisms, lenses, points of view" (conducted by Małgorzata Wiktorko), „In Search of Lost Time” (conducted by Małgorzata Wikotkor) and „To See Maturing” ("Dojrzeć dojrzewanie") (conducted by Marta Wlazeł).
Beginning in October, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, we also offer lectures on the history of art in three series: ABC of Art History, XYZ of Art History (XYZ historii sztuki) and ĄĘ of Art History at ms2, 19 Ogrodowa Street.

The world has moved the emphasis from having knowledge onto getting knowledge, from „knowing” onto „searching”. Traditional museum units are icons of “knowledge”: archives of dates, biographies, achievements, currents, styles, trends which cause frustration in a layman. Department of Education of the Museum of Art in Lodz works differently. Just like Google.com, it provides tools thanks to which everyone can find their own answers.
All activities of the Department of Education have the value of originality. Words are not taken from dictionaries of borrowings, encyclopaedias or monographs but speak of experience of a particular man who wants to share it. Education at the Museum of Art in Lodz does not form annals of name, titles and dates referring to art history aimed at critics and curators. Neither is it a creation of works by future artists to enter competitions and exhibitions.
What is education at the Museum of Art in Lodz? It is the encouragement to experience the 20th and 21st century art – just this and that much.
Nobody clarifies the only one sense of art. but translate its hermetic discourse into language comprehensible for every person, in a way that is subject to a topic and not to the methodologies of academic disciplines. Each interpretation increases the “amount” of knowledge. It is not worth excluding any opinion. Everyone is right in a way.
Department of Education overthrows the dictates of canon and appreciates individual experience every day afresh. Much can be gained from the multitude of interpretations: a better, multilateral, tolerant, empathetic way of experiencing the world, not only art.
