Builders - films screenings + guest lecture
22.11.08, 7 p.m.
The grand opening of the ms² will be accompanied by inauguration of international project Art Always has Its Consequences, which will consist of series of exhibitions, scientific laboratories and publications. They all will be co-realized by four partnership institutions: Tranzit_hu (Hungary), media center kuda.org (Serbia), curator collective WHW (Croatia) and Muzeum Sztuki in Lodz. The authors tackled with the issues omitted in the official version of history: the history of exhibitions, conceptual typography, the history of artistic writing, and archives practices. As a result, they will retell and show originality of the postwar culture in East-Central Europe.
Builders is one out of three meetings organized within the frameworks of this year’s edition of the project. We will present eight films connected with the issues of the physical construction and the ideological assumptions of the socialist utopia. The movies, by such artists like: Andreas Fogarasi, Chto Delat, Deimantas Narkevičius czy David Maljković, will be followed by a lecture by a Hungarian historian of art – Edit Andrăs titled The Future Is Behind Us. Working title: archive #1 is the title of the first free publication on the given topic that will be promoted during the meeting.
