events - achiveThe Herbst Palace introduces an innovative solution: audio guides.
The department of Muzeum Sztuki, located on Przędzalniana Street 72, offers now five hi-tech Dell audio guides.
An audio guide is a hi-tech device useful for individual visiting. A big display with touch screen guarantees an easy use, and a recorded voice of a guide talks about the seen interiors and the history of industrial Łódź. The recording in two versions: Polish and English, can be stopped, rewound or fast-forwarded, also the volume can be adjusted. The audio guide allows the tourists to give up the established touring routes and ensures the full freedom of moving around the Residence. Foreigners can at present use the English version – soon a German version will be available.
The use of audio guides in the Herbst Palace is free of charge till June 15. Later the use of the device with one set of headphones will cost 12 zl, and with two sets 16 zl.
Audio guides are common in all significant museums around the world. In Poland, audio guides provided by iGuide from Bydgoszcz, allow friendly touring in several institutions, i.a. Archeological Museum in Biskupin, Kórnik Castle near Poznań, Archeological Musem in Poznań and the Malbork Castle Museum.
On October 9, 2008, we are opening the new department of Muzeum Sztuki – the ms2 , which is going to join the list of museums using this hi-tech solutions. In the ms2 there will be ten audio guides, which will allow the visitors to individually become acquainted with the collection.
We invite you to visit the Herbst Palace and use the audio guides. More detailed information can be obtained from the head of the department, Dorota Berbelska.
