In Cinderella, the most famous fairy-tale in the world, a ball gown and court shoes become a tool of fulfilling the deepest desires, of metamorphosis after dark: from ordinariness to breathtaking beauty. They let an ideal reveal itself, to awaken desire, to win prince’s heart. These archetypes of ballroom fashion appeal to the senses and to imagination, their essence is sex appeal. After dark, when the matters of the day seem distant and the work is finished, fantasy takes over and becomes material thanks to extravagant and sophisticated dresses.
