F for Fake, 1973, directed by Orson Welles

Accompanying event of Salon de Fleurus exhibition

F for Fake – is a rarely shown film by legendary filmmaker focused around the relationship between a copy and the original. Orson Welles’s documentary is a multilayer construction starting with the most famous art forger Elmyr de Hory whose story is told by Clifford Irving, a biographer and the author of a fake biography of Howard Hughes – the archetype of Kane from the most famous Welles’s film. Thus, we have a study about borders of a documentary, truth and fiction.
