Figury – a sound installation by Artur Zagajewski
We invite you to the world premiere of "Figury", a sound installation by composer Artur Zagajewski (arturzagajewski.com). Inspired by Magdalena Abakanowicz’s iconic sculptures, the piece will fill the foyer of ms², blending the tradition of Łódź textile and avant-garde art with contemporary sound.

"Figury" is a tribute to the great polish artist and a deliberate reference to the textile traditions of Łódź. The sound installation resonates both with the industrial space of ms² and with the new permanent exhibition "Ways of Seeing. Collection of the Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź".
Composer Artur Zagajewski invited distinguished instrumentalists to collaborate: Aleksander Stachowski (accordion), Eneasz Kubit (accordion), Michał Górczyński (contrabass clarinet), Julian Paprocki (contrabass clarinet), Wojciech Fudala (cello), Krzysztof Karpeta (cello), and Michał Rot (synthesizer).
About the composer:
Artur Zagajewski — composer and music theorist, born in 1978. He is a graduate and lecturer at the Academy of Music in Łódź, where he completed his studies in music theory and composition and earned his doctorate under the supervision of Professor Zygmunt Krauze. He is a laureate of numerous composition competitions, including the International Grażyna Bacewicz Competition (1st prize, 2009) and the Sound Screen Festival (grand prize, 2009), as well as a two-time winner of the Łódź "EUREKA" award. His work "Brut" received the highest distinction at the International Rostrum of Composers in Palermo (2017). He has also been nominated for the Coryphaeus of Polish Music Award and the "Polityka" Passports.
His music has been presented at numerous festivals in Poland and abroad, including Warsaw Autumn, Sacrum Profanum, Musica Polonica Nova, Poznań Musical Spring, Musica Privata, MittelFest or AFEKT. He has collaborated with artists such as Agata Zubel, Dominik Połoński, Zorka Wollny, Piotr Stasik, the Bang on a Can All-Stars, the Silesian String Quartet, and Hashtag Ensemble. He also conducts research on rock music and teaches courses on 20th- and 21st-century music. He is a member of the Polish Composers’ Union and serves on the Program Committee of the Warsaw Autumn festival.
