First Curatorial Tour of the Exhibition Gifts of Friendship
Gifts of Friendship is one of the most important presentations of new acquisitions in the history of the Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź. The exhibition features nearly 150 artworks donated to the museum by artists from around the world between 2024 and 2026. The project refers to the history of the a.r. group’s International Collection of Modern Art, reminding us that museum collections can grow not only through the art market or institutional strategies, but also through relationships, solidarity, trust, and long-term collaboration.

During the tour, Barbara Piwowarska will discuss the concept behind the exhibition, the history of artworks donated to the museum, and the ways in which contemporary artistic practices create new forms of togetherness and exchange. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about the process of developing the exhibition, as well as the stories behind selected artworks and artistic gestures connected with their donation to the collection.
The tour will begin at ms2, where part of the exhibition enters into dialogue with Ways of Seeing. The group will then move to ms1, where the presented works engage in dialogue with the Neoplastic Room while contrasting with the historic bourgeois interiors of the former factory palace.
